Today I want to answer the question: Can you be a gay Christian?
The simple answer to that is yes.
Homosexuality is often pointed out as the grave sin by many Christians. However, Christ died for all sins, and in Christ there is neither male nor female. It says that in Galatians 3:28. So this means that these distinctions don’t apply in our relationship with Christ. So accusations of homosexuality under grace don’t hold.
This means that if you believe the gospel and are a homosexual, transgender, or lesbian, you are still saved and God is not holding your sins against you.
God views you at this point as a son and an heir.
Now people will run to 1 Corinthians 6:9–10 and twist that scripture. But what’s the context behind it?
Let’s read the verse:
“Know ye not the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolators, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners shall inherit the kingdom of God.”
The unrighteous there are unbelievers, because all believers have the imputed righteousness of God and their sins are forgiven.
Romans 4:7 says:
“Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven and whose sins are covered.”
This means that unbelievers don’t have their sins forgiven because they don’t believe the gospel. So unbelievers will not enter the kingdom of heaven and their sins are still imputed to them.
But believers, their sins are not imputed unto them, because they believe the gospel and the Lord imputes His righteousness unto them.
Romans 4:8:
“Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.”
Romans 4:22–25:
“And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness.
Now it was not written for his sake alone that it was imputed to him,
But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed,
If we believe on Him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead,
Who was delivered for our offenses and was raised again for our justification.”
So when we believe the gospel, we are saved and all our sins are forgiven past, present, and future and God is not holding our sins against us. And The Gospel is Simple Only believe that Jesus died on the cross for your sins and that God raised Him from the dead. That’s it you’re saved! Joh 3:14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:
Joh 3:15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
Rom 4:5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.
Act 13:38 Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins: Act 13:39 And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.
Look at verse 11 of 1 Corinthians 6:
“And such were some of you. But you are washed. You are sanctified. You are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.”
So in God’s eyes, these believers though they still sinned are seen as clean. This means that even the gay believers in the Corinthian church were saved.
Why? Because they believed the gospel.
“At one point you were unbelievers and had your sins imputed to you.
But now you who have been washed, sanctified, and justified…”
Heb 10:17 And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.
Heb 10:18 Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.
